Abstract:

To provide a method for manufacturing an optical waveguide with which the optical waveguide with low transmission loss and high performance can be obtained and can be implemented by a simple apparatus and step and therefore the manufacturing cost can be reduced.

The method for manufacturing the optical waveguide 10 including a lower clad layer 2 and a core layer 3 is provided. The method includes an imprinting step of pressing a mold 5 formed with a rugged pattern in the lower clad layer 2 after coating of the lower clad layer 2 and transferring the rugged pattern to the lower clad layer 2, and a printing step of printing the core layer 3 in a recessed part 6 formed on the surface of the lower clad layer 2 by the imprinting step.
