To provide a method of preventing hypersecretion of mucus in an airway and a pharmaceutical formulation for lowering excess formation of lung cells in the airway.
This method of lowering excess formation of lung cells in individual airways includes administration of an effective amount for the treatment of an epidemic growth factor receptor (EGF-R) antagonist to a patient affected by hypersecretion of mucus in the airway by excess formation of lung cells in the airway, and this pharmaceutical formation for lowering the excess formation of lung cells in the airway contains the antagonist and a pharmaceutically permissible carrier. As the antagonist, a kinase inhibitor selective to EGF-R, a monoclonal antibody specifically bonding to the epidemic growth factor, antioxidants, etc., are preferable.
