Abstract:
To provide a method for producing a geranyl aryl sulfone using an aryl sulfonyl chloride available at a low cost.
An aryl allyl sulfone of general formula (4) can be produced by reducing an aryl sulfonyl chloride expressed by general formula (1) ArSO2X (Ar is a (substituted)aryl) to obtain an arylsulfinic acid or its salt expressed by general formula (2) ArSO2M (M is H, Na or K) and, without separating the product from the system, reacting the produced acid or its salt with an allyl halide expressed by general formula (3) (X is a halogen atom).
