Abstract:
To provide a method for synthesizing a cyclic compound with which the product can be obtained in a higher yield and a high level of conversion can be achieved in a smaller number of reactional steps than those of a conventional technique and to develop a combinatorial synthetic strategy.
The method for producing the cyclic compound comprises combinatorial synthesis based on the Suzuki coupling, subsequent halo- demetalation and the final Suzuki coupling. The Suzuki couplings are carried out by using boronic acid or a boronic acid ester, respectively. The corresponding cyclic compound and a new synthetic unit used therefor are provided. The cyclic compound is preferably used as a component of a liquid crystal mixture.
