To provide a method for producing a rubber composition by which not only the hardness can be sufficiently heightened and the heat build-up can be reduced, but also the breaking elongation can be improved.

The method for producing the rubber composition includes obtaining a solution by dissolving a diene rubber (1) in a solvent, adding a phenol resin and/or a modified phenol resin, and carbon black to the resultant solution and stirring, treating the solution with a poor solvent to precipitate the components and to provide a wet master batch, and kneading the prepared wet master batch with a diene rubber (2).
