Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a convenient and economical method for treating a food waste generated in a food processing factory, etc., by which the environmental pollution due to the waste gas and waste processing solution is never caused, and the generation of the additional waste such as excess sludge and incineration ash is suppressed and which is applicable also to a small-scale equipment for easily treating the food waste in the food processing factory.
SOLUTION: The finally crushed food waste is introduced into a first treating tank and treated with bacteria in the tank substantially in the absence of protozoan to oxidize and decompose the organic matter in the crushed material and to convert the bacteria into non-cohesive bacteria, then a liquid to be treated containing the non-cohesive bacteria from the first treating tank is introduced into a second treating tank containing activated sludge and treated with the sessile protozoa substantially in the absence of non-sessile protozoa to let the sessile protozoan prey upon and remove the non-cohesive bacteria, and the food waste is biologically treated by the two-phase activated sludge process.
