Abstract:

To improve response characteristics of a cold flow improver in a middle distillate containing a detergent additive.

The invention relates to the use of at least one kind of oil-soluble polyoxyalkylene compound for improving the response characteristics of a cold flow improver of a mineral oil in a middle distillate containing at least one kind of an ashless nitrogen-containing detergent additive. The polyoxyalkylene compound is an oil-soluble ester, ether or ether/ester of an alkoxylated polyol having at least three repeating alkoxyl units derived from a 2-5C alkylene oxide based on the OH group of a polyol having at least two 12-30C aliphatic hydrocarbon groups, and the ashless nitrogen-containing detergent additive is an oil-soluble amphiphilic compound containing at least one alkyl or alkenyl group bonded to a polar group. The alkyl or alkenyl group contains 10-500 carbon atoms and the polar group contains ≥2 nitrogen atoms.
