To provide fusion of an Fc domain and a biologically active peptide and a method for manufacturing a pharmaceutical agent using the biologically active peptide.
A pharmacologically active compound is manufactured by a process comprising (a) selecting at least one peptide that modulates the activity of a protein of interest and (b) preparing a pharmacological substance comprising the Fc domain covalently linked to at least one amino acid of the selected peptide. Linkage to a vehicle increases the half-life of the peptide, which otherwise would be quickly decomposed in vivo. The preferred vehicle is the Fc domain. Preferably, the peptide is selected by phage display, Eschericia coli display, RNA-peptide screening or chemical substance-peptide screening.
