Title:
MOLD FLUX FOR CONTINUOUSLY CASTING STEEL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3256147
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mold flux for obtaining a non-defect cast slab excellent in a surface characteristics, in a continuous casting of a medium carbon steel, SUS420 and SUS304.
SOLUTION: In a vertical cross section of a sample obtd. with a specific mold flux melt-testing method, a crystal grain diameter in the sample cross section is 0.1-9.0mm and a ratio of this grain diameter to the whole sample cross section is made to ≥70%. Further, in order to obtain this sample cross sectional condition, a metal or compound powder having fining action of a crystal grain is suitably blended. By this constitution, a crystallizing ratio when a mold powder flowed into a gap between the mold and a cast slab solidifies, is made to high and slow cooling in a mold and lowering of the variation of local heat flow flux can be realized and a high quality steel can stably and continuously be cast.
