PURPOSE: To improve an operability by a method wherein if a default of a paper mode is a continuous form at the throw-in of a power but a continuous form is not set, a state is made printable on a cutform without a manual operation by an operation by automatically changing over the paper mode to a cutform mode.
CONSTITUTION: With a power throw-in 8, an initializing action 10 is conducted after an initialization 9 of a hardware and a software. Next, whether a default of a paper mode is a continuous form or a cutform is judged 11. If a cutform is judged, a select state 14 is set regardless of the presence/absence of a continuous form, and a data reception from a host is allowed. If the paper mode default is a continuous form 11, whether a continuous form is set is checked 12 by a sensor. If a continuous form is set, the select state 14 is set, and a data reception from the host is allowed. If a continuous form is not set 12, the paper mode is changed over from a continuous form to a cutform 13. A cutform mode is selected 14, and a data reception from the host is allowed.
