PURPOSE: To obtain a printer capable of altering the feed route of paper corresponding to a use purpose and good in user's convenience by part formed thereto so as to make the same freely revolvable in coaxial relation to the shaft part of a platen to make the position of the introducing part freely alterable.

CONSTITUTION: A printer is equipped with a printing head 4 applying printing to continuous paper, the platen 3 receiving the impact of the printing head 4, the carriage 26 moving the printing head 4 along the platen 3 and the tractor 2 feeding the continuous paper 1 to the platen 3 and the printing head 4 is integrated with the carriage 26 to constitute a printing unit 6. The introducing part 27 introducing the continuous paper 1 into the gap between the platen 3 and the printing head 4 is formed to the printing unit 6 and this printing unit 6 is pivotally supported so as to be freely revolvable in coaxial relation to the shaft part 3a of the platen 3. As a result, by altering the position of the introducing part 27, the continuous paper 1 can be introduced into the gap between the platen 3 and the printing head 4 in a desired direction to be printed.
