To provide a nanofiber having a high anion conductivity as a material capable of forming an optimal composite membrane for an electrolyte film of PEFC, a composite membrane utilizing the nanofiber, a polyelectrolyte film, a catalytic layer for a fuel cell, and a fuel cell.
The nanofiber includes an aromatic polymer. The aromatic polymer has an anion exchange group. The aromatic polymer has A) a repeating unit comprising an aromatic group in a main chain and/or a side chain, and B) the anion exchange group which is introduced in the aromatic group in the repeating unit. The aromatic polymer has a main chain skeleton structure selected from the group consisting of a polyarylene ether skeleton, a polyimide skeleton, and a polystyrene skeleton. The anion exchange group is an anion exchange group selected from the group consisting of a quaternary ammonium salt, a quaternary phosphonium salt, a tertiary sulfonium salt, and a quaternary polonium salt.
