Abstract:
To provide a novel negative electrode active material having an appropriate charge/discharge potential of Li ions, a relatively high capacity, and a relatively long cycle life, and a lithium ion secondary battery using the same.SOLUTION: A negative electrode active material is formed of an oxide containing Fe and a metal element other than Fe, has an occlusion/release ability of Li ions, and has a charge/discharge potential of Li ions which is more than 0 V and less than 1.5 V. The oxide preferably contains a composition represented by (Ca1-xSrx)Ba(Fe4-yMy)O8 (M is one or more elements selected from the group consisting of Ti, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, and Mn, 0≤x≤1, 0≤y≤0.6), or a composition represented by Y(Fe1-zM'z)O3 (M' is Mn and/or Co, 1≤z≤0.2). A lithium ion secondary battery is a secondary battery using such a negative electrode active material as a negative electrode.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
