Abstract:

To provide a new gene alivin 1 which inhibits the apoptosis of neurocytes and plays an important role for the existence of the neurocytes, to provide a protein encoding the gene, and to provide a medicinal composition containing the same.

There are provided a mutated alivin 1 gene and to a mutated Alivin 1 protein encoding the gene, the gene for inhibiting the apoptosis of neurocytes, and a medicinal composition containing the protein. Since it has been concluded that the above gene is a gene related to Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease, the medicinal composition can be used for these diseases.
