Abstract:
To obtain the subject protein originated from a specific microbial strain of Streptococcus pneumonia and useful for the treatment of diseases caused by infection with Streptococcus pneumonia, etc.
This new cell surface protein is a polypeptide having an amino acid sequence having a similarity of ≥70% to the amino acid sequence of the formula from the 1st to the 170th amino acids and originated from Streptococcus pneumonia. It can be produced by transforming a host cell with a vector containing an isolated nucleic acid molecule coding for the above polypeptide in an expressible state by Streptococcus pneumonia polynucleotide included in NCIMB deposition number 40794 and culturing the transformed host cell.
