PURPOSE: To avoid getting a blade ground at the natural frequency of the blade, remove scalloping of the blade, move the blade and a grinding wheel more equally, and hold the cutting accuracy high, by changing the rotation speed of the blade.
CONSTITUTION: A rotary blade 10 for cutting round products 14, 15 which are formed of rolling paper is engaged and brought in contact with grinding wheels 16, 17. The rotary blade 10 is rotated at high speed approximately 1500 rpm by a motor 19 via a transmission gear 20, then rotated at low speed approximately 750 rpm for 20 seconds by a speed variable AC drive, and the rotation speed of the rotary blade 10 is increased again to approximately 1500 rpm. The rotation speed of the rotary blade 10 is thus periodically increased and reduced so that the frequency causing the scalloping to the rotary blade 10 in being ground on the grinding wheels 16, 17 is forcedly changed, and a scalloping pattern caused by one frequency is offset by a scalloping pattern by another frequency so that the rotary blade 10 and the grinding wheels 16, 17 is equally operated.
