To provide an optical device which is rigid and prevents deterioration in sealing performance for liquids contained therein.
An illuminator 3 is obtained by holding and fixing a liquid lens element 2 and a holder 80 with a fixture 160 and holding a light source unit 70 in the holder 80. The fixture 160 is engaged with the liquid lens element 2 at a main plate 161 and engaged with the holder 80 in a projected part 163. While the liquid lens element 2 and the holder 80 which are disposed facing each other are sandwiched and pressurized in Z-axis direction, the fixture 160 holds the liquid lens element 2 and the holder 80 so as to enclose surrounding from four face directions. In such a configuration, since the fixture 160 sandwiches and pressurizes the liquid lens element 2 and the holder 80 in Z-axis direction, the rigidity of the illuminator 3 is improved in comparison with the configuration where the illuminator 3 is held by a plurality of fixtures.
