PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic device configured to increase diffraction efficiency in a wide range of a field of view, to observe a large-size virtual image.SOLUTION: On a light incident surface of a light guide plate 200 formed of glass or light-transmissive resin material or the like, a first diffraction optical element 102, which is a surface-relief diffraction grating formed of SiN or the like, is arranged. A refraction index of the first diffraction optical element 102 is higher than that of the light guide plate 200. An image forming apparatus 500 makes TE-polarized image light 10 incident on the first diffraction optical element 102.
