Title:
OPTICAL HEAD
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3458024
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a magneto-optical signal with a high C/N and to enhance the degree of freedom in optical design by suppressing the loss of signal component to the minimum.
SOLUTION: A magneto-optical recording medium 8 is irradiated with the light emitted from a semiconductor laser 1 through a hologram 5 and a convergence means 4 after the light is reflected by a polarizing film 3 provided on the first surface 2a of a prism 2 consisting of a uniaxial refringence crystal. The return light is made incident on the first, second hologram areas 5a, 5b of the hologram 5 through the convergence means 4, and the ±1st-order diffraction light caused there are imparted with focal power different from each other, and are received by a first photodetector 6 before/after the convergent position, and an error signal is detected. Then, the zero-order light is made to pass through the polarizing film 3, and further, is made to pass and diffracted through the prism 2 to be separated into normal light having astigmatism and abnormal light, and these normal light and abnormal light are emitted from the second surface 2b of the prism 2, and received by a second photodetector 7 arranged in the vicinity of the focal line position of the astigmatism, and the magneto-optical signal is detected.
