Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical module capable of suppressing increase in a deviation of light intensity.SOLUTION: The optical module includes an MMI coupler made of a semiconductor, an optical hybrid element including an optical waveguide made of a semiconductor drawn from the MMI coupler, and a carrier 29 mounting the optical hybrid element. The optical hybrid element has a longitudinal direction and a transverse direction. On a surface 29a of the carrier 29 opposing to the optical hybrid element, a recess C is formed in a counter region opposing to the region of the optical hybrid element where the MMI coupler is formed, as well as in a region extending from the counter region to cover entirely in the transverse directions.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
