Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stabilize transmission characteristics of a light signal which travels in an optical waveguide.
SOLUTION: A disclosed optical waveguide substrate 10 transmits the light signal nearly in single mode since parallel luminous flux 14 incident on a multi- mode optical waveguide includes only light components of a 0th-order mode of m=0 to a tertiary mode of m=3 among transmission modes of light of the multi-mode optical waveguide as shown in Fig. 6 and has the small number of the modes.
