To provide an organic electroluminescent element having high emission efficiency.
The organic electroluminescent element includes two sets of luminescent layers consisting of a first luminescent layer 5 and a second luminescent layer 10 laminated between a pair of electrodes 2, 7. Small amount of guest material consisting of a phosphorous material is contained in a host material in which two sets of the luminescent layers occupy the most part of respective luminescent layers. A voltage is impressed on the organic electroluminescent element whereby exciter energy, formed of electron and hole poured from a pair of electrodes 2, 7, is moved from the host material of the first luminescent layer 5 into the guest material of the first luminescent layer 5 to emit light in the phosphorous material of the guest material of the first luminescent layer 5. At the same time, the electron and hole, poured from a pair of electrodes 2, 7, are reconnected directly by the phosphorous material of the guest material of the second luminescent layer 10 to emit light.
