Patent Searching and Data

Title:
ORGANISM EXHIBITING SPECIFIC BEHAVIOR BASED ON MATERIAL TO BE SEARCHED, AND METHODS FOR SEARCHING AND TREATING MATERIAL USING THE ORGANISM
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH11215934
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To produce an organism which a gene encoding a receptor against a substance to be searched has been introduced into, and which has a function to detect the desired substance to be searched, and to provide methods to search and treat wider range of substances.

This method for searching substances is based on that an extraneous gene is introduced into a host organism to produce an organism, and a specific substance is searched by using the produced organism. Concretely, to the host organism, a gene encoding a receptor which is not naturally held by the host organism is introduced from outside, the introduced receptor is expressed in a sense organ and thereby the organism acquires the function to detect a substance which has not been detected by the organ originally. In the case where the organism exhibits positive chemotaxis, that is, the organism approaches a substance to be searched when it detects the substance to be searched, the substance can be searched or treated based on this behavior.
