PURPOSE: To make automatic painting with the pattern corresponding to the position of a positioned and fixed hanger for painting and to obtain a uniform coated film by detecting the position of said hanger with a sensor and executing painting with the interlocked painting pattern.

CONSTITUTION: This invention relates to a detector for the painting pattern, in which the direction of a hanging hook 8 is automatically positioned and fixed by using a positioning device 17 and a coating material attached to the hook 8 is automatically painted with the painting pattern assigned by the signal generated from the corresponding position detecting sensor 18a. Then even the coating material having an intricate shape is painted with the preset painting pattern; therefore, the coated surface having the stable and uniform coated film thickness is obtd. without uneven painting.
