Title:
PARALLEL TRANSMISSION OPTICAL MODULE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH02154208
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain the low-cost parallel transmission optical module with good productivity by sectioning the hollow part of a sleeve and a ferrule in a noncircular shape such as an elliptic or polygonal shape. CONSTITUTION:An LED array 23 is fixed by soldering to the sleeve 26 made of metal, e.g. SUS304 so that their center axes are aligned with each other; and the hollow part is machined in a regularly hexagonal shape. The ferrule 25 made of metal, e.g. SUS304 coated with a fiber array 24 is provided on a regularly hexagonal prism structure so that the ferrule is fitted in the sleeve 26. Thus, the ferrule 25 and sleeve 26 which are noncircular about the center axis are engaged and the array directions of arrayed optical elements and arrayed optical fibers are matched with each other, so the optical axis is adjusted in a theta direction only by engaging the ferrule and sleeve with each other. Consequently, the low-cost parallel transmission optical module with good productivity is obtained.
