Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To safely produce a phenol resin having a high softening point with less discoloration due to oxidation.
SOLUTION: A phenol resin having a softening point of at least 140°C in a molten state is mixed with a solvent which has a boiling point of at least 100°C and serves as a good solvent for phenol resin to lower the softening point of the phenol resin to 70-135°C, and the mixture is then taken out from the reactor, thus producing the objective phenol resin composition.
