PURPOSE: To solve the problem of reduction of information content at the time of a conventional information synthesis, and to realize an effective information synthesis, in a device which obtains new feature information by synthesizing two pieces of feature information obtained from a picture.
CONSTITUTION: A feature data segmenting processor 105 reads the values of K×K (K: odd number) pieces of picture elements around a picture element P(X, Y) from a memory 101 by referring to a coordinate (X, Y) prepared by a processing coordinate preparing processor 103. A feature data segmenting processor 106 reads the values of K×K (K: odd number) pieces of picture elements around a picture element P(Z, W) from a memory 102 by referring to a coordinate (Z, W) prepared by an adjacent coordinate preparing processor 104. A feature data correlation value calculating processor 107 calculates the correlation value of the two characteristic data segmented by the feature data segmenting processor 105 and the feature data segmenting processor 106, and a maximum value calculating processor 108 calculates the maximum value of the correlation values.
