To provide a picture recording control device and method by which reliability of switching between picture recording devices during recording is improved.
The picture recording control device includes a first selection part which selects a first picture recording device according to a priority order table, a first determination part which determines whether the remaining capacity of the selected first picture recording device is insufficient with respect to a program to be recorded, a detection part which detects connected picture recording devices when the first determination part determines that the detected remaining capacity is insufficient, a second determination part which determines the presence of picture recording devices to be selected according to the detected picture recording devices and the priority order table and a second selection part which selects a second picture recording device according to the priority order table when the second determination part determines that there exist picture recording devices to be selected.
