Abstract:
PURPOSE:To provide a polymeric peroxide polymerization initiator containing two specific kinds of constituent units at specific ratios, having a specific average molecular weight and three active temperatures, suitable as a polymerization initiator for vinyl monomer and giving a polymer having high molecular weight. CONSTITUTION:The objcetive polymeric peroxide polymerization initiator can be produced by reacting an acid chloride of formula I (R and R' are H or methyl) with a hydroperoxide of formula II (X is group of formula III, etc.) at a molar ratio of 6:4 to 4:6 in the presence of an alkali (e.g. pyridine). the initiator gives a vinyl-type block copolymer composed of the constituent unit of formula IV and the constituent unit of formula V bonded alternaterly with each other in the form of head-head and head-tail bonding state at random at a molar ratio of 6:4 to 4:6, having an average molecular weight of 1,000-20,000 and suitable as an additive to improve the physical properties of a polymer, paint, etc.
