Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydroxy resin which can obtain an epoxy resin cured product excellent in heat resistance, high temperature high elasticity, thermal decomposition stability and solvent solubility, is also excellent in flowability at the time of molding, and is suitable for used as a power device sealing material, and to provide an epoxy resin composition.SOLUTION: There are provided: a polyhydric compound represented by general formula (1), where Rand Rrepresent a hydrogen atom or a hydrocarbon group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, and n represents a number of 1 to 4; a biphenyl group-containing polyhydric resin in which an area% obtained by adding an n=3 component and an n=4 component measured by gel permeation chromatography is 50% or more, and an area% of the total component indicating a polymer region peak than the n=4 component measured by GPC is 25% or less; an epoxy resin composition containing the polyhydric resin or the epoxy resin as essential components.SELECTED DRAWING: None
