Title:
PORTABLE COMPLEX POSITIONING APPARATUS AND ITS PRESENT POSITION ESTIMATION METHOD
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2001272247
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To estimate a present position precisely, irrespective of the walking ability (individual difference) and the movement state of a carrier.

While a positioning operation is performed by a GPS receiver, a walking rhythm is judged on the basis of the output of a pedometer. It is collated with the output of the GPS receiver to find a stride. A rhythm-stride table, with which the waling rhythm is made to correspond to the stride is created and updated. While the positioning operation by the GPS receiver is not performed due to a-blocking operation or an intermittent positioning operation, a stride is found by referring to the rhythm-stride table, on the basis of a walking rhythm which is derived from the output of the pedometer and is coupled to a movement direction, which is found on the basis of the output of a direction sensor to fine a movement vector. The vector is accumulated and added, and the present position is estimated.
