To provide a portable suspicious individual detecting apparatus capable of protecting a specific individual as a protected object from a suspicious individual.

Five cameras are provided in a glasses main frame 11, and lateral object images are continuously photographed from a wearer of the glasses 10. A face region is detected from the object images. When the face region is detected, a direction of a face and an eye-gaze direction are detected by calculating a feature value of the face, and the eye-gaze direction is detected based on the directions of the face and the eyes. It is determined whether an individual of the face region detected by the eye-gaze direction looks at the cameras or not. When there exists any face looking at the cameras beyond a fixed time duration, the face is determined to be the suspicious individual. A warning message showing that the suspicious individual is detected is output with a sound through a micro speaker 18. Further, suspicious individual detecting information and images are informed to apparatuses at remote places such as, for example, a guardian's portable telephone and a PC at a school.
