To provide a portable terminal with reduced occurrence of switch failures.

A side key is provided on a side of a portable phone housing 12, the side key including a key top 62 and a micro switch 52. An opening 60 is provided on the side of the housing 12, and the key top 62 is fitted into the opening 60. The micro switch 52 is operated by the key top 62 being pushed down, and the key top 62 thus pushed down is pushed up by a flat spring 66 and fulcrums 68a and 68b. A stopper 64 is provided on the periphery of the key top 62 so that the key top 62, when being pushed up, will not come off from the opening 60. Legs 70a and 70b regulate the amount by which the key top 62 is pushed down. Due to regulation of the amount by which the key top 62 is pushed down, failures of the micro switch caused by pressing of the key top 62 can be reduced.
