To provide a power system stabilizer which eliminates the necessity of using many storage batteries and can be reduced in size and weight as a result.
A bidirectional power converter 15 converts the AC voltage of a line L into DC voltage, and outputs it to either or both of an accumulator 17 and a resistor 19. A current detector 12 detects the current of the line L. A controller 16 detects the power consumption of loads 1-3, based on the current detected by the current detector 12. Then, when the loads increase suddenly, it instructs the bidirectional power converter 15 to throttle the power consumption, and when the loads decrease suddenly, it instructs the bidirectional power converter 15 to absorb the power consumption.
