PURPOSE: To provide a preparation method of an active component-carrying activated carbon catalyst in which filtering properties are improved and also catalyst activities are improved.

CONSTITUTION: A catalyst carrying at least one kind of active component on a powdery activated carbon carrier is suspended in water, and polytetrafluoroethylene(PTFE) powder or emulsion is added therein and agitated, and then filtered and dried. Alternatively the powdery activated carbon carrier is suspended in water, and PTFE powder or emulsion is added therein and agitated, and then at least one kind of active component is carried, filtered and dried. The filtering properties and catalyst activities are further improved by carrying out the PTFE treatment in the presence of a surface-active agent.
