Title:
PROCESS FOR PREPARING ORGANIC CHLOROFLUORIDE COMPOUNDS
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5278801
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
Prepn. comprises reacting a gaseous mixt. of a cpd. (I) and halogenated (I) with O2 in an O2-contg. gas, HCl or Cl2 and HF in presence of a Deacon catalyst on an inert metal salt support (the catalyst contains 0.6-20 wt.% cations based on the total cation content of the catalyst and support) at elevated temps. and a contact time of 0.1-20 (pref. 2-12) sec. (I) is an acylic 1-4C hydrocarbon, an aromatic hydrocarbon, a cycloaliphatic hydrocarbon, a satd. aliphatic carboxylic cpd. or aldehyde, a satd. aliphatic S-contg. cpd. where all the atoms are C,H,S or O, an aliphatic ketone or ether. The halogenic Cl and/or F. The heat produced in the exothermic reaction is regulated by recycling some of the halogenated prod. which may be inert or only partially halogenated, and therefore react further. Recycling also increases the efficiency and lowers the cost of the process (more of the expensive HF is used up) giving greater yields of strongly fluorinated prods. The loss of starting material through combustion and hydrolysis occuring at high temps. is reduced.
