Abstract:
To provide additive manufacturing articles, polymer materials adapted as feedstock for additive manufacturing, and additive manufacturing methods.SOLUTION: A method for the additive manufacturing of an article includes conveying a material through a heating nozzle to form a flowing mass of the material. The material includes a polymer matrix containing a plurality of polymer chains and an aligning additive dispersible in the polymer matrix. The aligning additive is configured to align the plurality of polymer chains in the direction of flow of the flowing mass of the material, so that the alignment parallel to the direction of flow is achieved. Thus, the polymer matrix containing the aligning additive can provide a suitable feedstock for the additive manufacturing of thermoplastic articles.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
