PURPOSE: To smoothly obtain the subject compound useful as e.g. an agrochemical without any scaling derived from a copper catalyst by reaction of allyl chloride with ammonia water in the presence of the copper catalyst followed by oil-water separation and adding a sulfur compound to the aqueous phase, and then separately distilling the aqueous phase and oily phase.
CONSTITUTION: A reaction is carried out between allyl chloride and ammonia water in the presence of cuprous chloride, and water is then added to the resultant reaction product liquor to conduct an oil-water separation; a sulfur compound such as sodium (hydro)sulfide, potassium (hydro)sulfide, dithiocarbamic acid (alkali metal salt) or dithiocarbamate group-contg. polymeric compound is added to the resultant aqueous phase followed by, or under such addition, separately distilling the aqueous phase and the oily phase to obtain the objective allylamine. It is preferable that 0.3-3 equivalents, based on the copper ions dissolved in the aqueous phase, of the sulfur compound be added to the aqueous phase.
