Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a mercaptopolybutenyl derivative capable of retarding a blooming phenomenon in vulcanization by allowing a thioalkylacetic acid to act on a specific isobutylene polymer having a specific structure to provide an acylthio derivative and carrying out an ester exchange reaction of the obtained acylthio derivative.
SOLUTION: A thioalkylacetic acid is added to an isobutylene polymer, ≥80% number of hydrocarbon structural repeating units of which is the one of formula I [(n) is an integer of 0-200], and having one terminal of formulas II or III in the presence of 0.001-100mol% coexisting molecular oxygen at 0-100°C reaction temperature to provide an acylthio derivative, ≥80% number of hydrocarbon structural repeating units of which is the one of formula I and further having a group of formulas IV or V at one terminal. The obtained acylthio derivative is subjected to an ester exchange at 0-200°C reaction temperature in an alcohol solution containing a sodium alkoxide to provide the objective compound, ≥80% number of hydrocarbon structural repeating units of which is the one of formula I and further having a group of formulas IV or V at one terminal.
