Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable stable conveying without damaging a thin strip by detecting a detaching position of the metallic thin strip and controlling either one or both of flow rate of blowing gas and negative pressure developed in a suction type conveyor.
SOLUTION: Molten metal 3 is poured onto a cooling roll 1 from a nozzle 2 and rapidly solidified on the cooling roll 1 to form the thin strip 4. The thin strip 4 is detached from the cooling roll 1 by air-blowing from an air-nozzle 5 to almost tangential direction of this roll 1 and sucked near the starting point of the belt 6a of the vacuum suction type conveyor 6 and coiled to a winding reel 7 as a coil-state. The detaching position P from the cooling roll 1 is always observed with a detecting instrument 9, and when an actual detaching position P of the thin strip 4 is out of near the suitable detaching position, either one or both of the flow rate of blowing gas of the air-nozzle 5 and the negative pressure in a suction box 10 in the vacuum suction type conveyor 6 are controlled to execute the operation returning back the actual detaching position P to the suitable detaching position.
