Abstract:
PURPOSE: To facilitate the production of an organopolysiloxane gum of a low content of low-molecular-weight siloxanes.
CONSTITUTION: A process for producing a high-polymer organopolysiloxane of a degree of polymerization of 1×103 or above by polycondensing a silanol- terminated organosiloxane of the formula (wherein R#1 and R2 which may be the same or different from each other are each an (un)substituted monovalent hydrocarbon group; and n is an integer of 2-3000), which comprises mixing the above organosiloxane with a silane or siloxane having two hydrolyzable group in the molecule in a molar ratio of the silanol groups of the organosiloxane to the hydrolyzable groups of 0.5-3, polycondensing the obtained mixture to obtain a high-polymer organopolysiloxane of a content of low- molecular siloxanes including a cyclic trimer to a cyclic pentacosamer of 5000ppm or smaller.
