Abstract:

To inexpensively produce a thin hollow casting formed by dipping a sand mold into molten metal.

The sand mold 1 having a gas vent hole 8 is dipped into the molten metal 9 whose temp. is adjusted to the temp. higher than the solidus temp. and lower than the liquidus temp. +50°C. At that time, gas produced in the sand mold 1 dipped into the molten metal 9 is exhausted from the opening hole 6 into atmosphere by exposing the opening hole 6 of the gas vent hole 8 into the atmosphere. After the sand mold 1 is dipped into the molten metal 9 for a specified time, the thin hollow casting can be produced by taking out the sand mold 1 from the molten metal 9.
