Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a toner to be used for a printing machine or a copying machine to form an image by electrophotography, by which production of an irregular toner can be suppressed, the toner can be polymerized without much contamination of a producing device and the device can be operated for a long time without cleaning.
SOLUTION: A polymn. reactor is treated by bringing acetone into contact with the inner wall, filling with water and cleaning by a jet cleaning machine. A polymerizable monomer compsn. comprising styrene, butylacrylate, carbon black, dispersant for the coloring agent, charge controlling agent, divinylbenzene, release agent and polymn. initiator is added to a magnesium hydroxide colloid dispersion liquid and granulated to obtain a water dispersion of a polymerizable monomer compsn. The obtd. dispersion liquid is put in the polymn. reactor to carry out polymn., and further methylmethacrylate is added to continue the polymn. reaction. The product is dried to obtain polymer particles, to which silica fine particles after hydrophobic treatment and org. fine particles are deposited to obtain the objective toner.
