To provide a projector constituted so as to prevent a user from putting his (her) finger on a color wheel by mistake in such a state that a lamp door is detached.

The user performs operation to replace a lamp unit 10 by detaching the lamp door 85 from a main body case 80. When the lamp door 85 is detached, a hole part 86 formed to be opposed to the side surface of the color wheel 15 appears on the front of the projector 100. Then, a color wheel cover 16 is formed in such shape that a planar protection member 26 is positioned between the lamp door 85 (hole part 86) and the color wheel 15 as shown by figure 4. The protection member 26 prevents the user from putting his (her) finger 200 in from the hole part 86 and touching the color wheel 15 by mistake.
