Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a packet data transmission system for linking a remote unit(RU) with a central computer. CONSTITUTION: An RU 15 starts RF exchange to base stations(BS) 12-14 and performs reception from the BS 12-14, only during a prescribed time window. The exchange cannot be started from the BS 12-14, and data are sent to the RU 15 only by an answer. In order to report the standby of a message to be sent to the specified RU 15 to the RU 15, a some BS/RU packets to be transmitted by the BS 12-14 include the identifications of all the RU 15 as the destination of message (such a packet is called 'announcement'). Each RU which does not perform regular exchange for certain times is cyclically maintained for receiving the announcement packet, the presence/absence of a standby message is determined by decoding the announcement and since the RU 15 transmits the packet when there the message exist, the BSs 12-14 send back standby messages while including them in the answers.
