Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a charging system for safely and rapidly charging a battery by preventing the battery from being damaged due to the excessively charging of the battery, and at the same time by preventing the effects of an ambient temperature and other external environment. SOLUTION: A power stage 12 generates a high current for rapidly charging a nickel cadmium/nickel hydrogen alloy battery 11. A charge control circuit 13 is a battery-charging control circuit stage, senses the voltage of the battery 11 and detects a voltage drop, until the battery is completely charged and then generates a mode conversion signal to a small charging from rapid charging, detects whether the load of the battery 11 is open-circuited or short-circuited, and generates an error signal. A power supply control circuit 14 is a gate drive stage for driving the switching element of the power stage 12 and performs a pulse width modulation, so that a voltage that is applied to a resistor RSENSE can be fed back and a constant current is supplied to the battery.
