PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a raw material composition for providing a stress luminescent material excellent in stress luminescent properties and having practically sufficient emission luminance, and a stress luminescent material obtained from the raw material composition.SOLUTION: The raw material composition for a stress luminescent material is used for synthesizing an europium-activated strontium aluminate based stress luminescent material comprising alumina and/or aluminum hydroxide, a strontium compound, an europium compound and Li of 0.01 to 0.30 mol% to 100% of an aluminum element.
