Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide the recording device which can reproduce moving images with high picture quality and smooth movement on the reproducing side by recording digital image signal as a little information quantity as much as possible.
CONSTITUTION: An input digital image signal is previously divided into the still picture information of a background image and the information of a mobile object to move on this background image. The still picture information of the background image is stored in a memory 23 BG. The background image is separated from the input digital image signal, and the change information of this separated background still picture corresponding to the background image in the memory 23 BG is calculated. A recording medium 11 records the still picture information of the memory 23 BG, the change information and the information of the mobile object. The still picture information of the memory 23 BG is updated based on the change information. Signals recorded in the recording medium 11 are reproduced, and the change information is reformed by using the still picture information in the updated memory 23 BG. The recording medium 11 records again the still picture information updated in the memory 23 BG, the reformed change information and the information of the mobile object.
