Abstract:

PURPOSE: To efficiently and continuously remove oxygen in molten Cu by putting a long-sized clad additive obtd. by cladding the periphery of a core material made of a Co (alloy)-Al (alloy) mixture with a Cu (alloy) sheath in the molten Cu.

CONSTITUTION: Powdery or granular Co (alloy) is mixed with powdery or granular Al (alloy) and this mixture is worked into a wire by extrusion to form a core material. The periphery of the core material is clad with a Cu (alloy) sheath to obtain a long-sized clad additive. This additive is put in molten Cu and oxygen in the molten Cu is allowed to float up as the oxides of the elements of the additive and removed.
