Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the number of times of seek during special reproduction by obtaining a video object unit VOBU just before or just after another VOBU of a reproduction object whose reference picture has a discontinuous border and reading the reference picture of the obtained VOBU from a disk. SOLUTION: An AV file read section 133 requests transfer of AV file management information to a control data management section 107, references the obtained management information to obtain a head sector address of a VOBU corresponding to a tip mark and an end sector address of a VOBU corresponding to an end mark of each clip received as arguments. Then the section 133 requests a file system section 102 to open an AV file indicated by an AV file ID of a 1st clip and requests the section 102 to seek up to the head sector address of the VOBU corresponding to the tip mark of the clip after that.
